What Others Think of the DAL MEC

I believe that as a union, our job is NOT to as a knee jerk reaction oppose anything that management approaches us with, but to carefully evaluate and come to a decision as to how to proceed. The DAL MEC did this, and decided it was better to work from within the process than to get all fired...

    Delta NYC MD-88 or 767

Yes and no... It depends on how you bid. My first month I was a line holder, and had a schedule that was like you refer to. However, I was then told about a handy PBS feature called Pattern Bid. You can use that to avoid a choppy schedule and get for instance 3-4 days on followed by 3-4...

    SWA Jumpseat

    Thanks

    SWA Jumpseat

I'm sure this has been covered a time or two, but with my feeble search skills I couldn't find it. Is there anything special to do before trying to JS on SWA, like a number to call and list/check loads? Need to go from FLL to TPA on the 24th or morning of the 25th. Thanks.

    Turboprop vs. Jet below 10,000'

Take a number... Those of us in jets also have to put up with the same B.S. I've been put in the box for "enroute spacing" while a SW taxies past us. After we take off, we follow them all the way down the East Coast to Orlando. Had it happen more than once.

Thank you Alaska for the Jumpseat. NOT!

Actually...The jumpseast is a negotiated benefit. The continued denial of that benefit is a violation of the contract. Allowing a gate agent to take that benefit that negotiating capital was spent gaining is just the same as allowing a gate agent to "adjust" your times and affect your pay...

Less RJ flying in the future?

To start out, the RJ's should be removed from hub to hub flying. For example, if AA can only justify a 40 seat EMB between LGA and DCA, than maybe AA shouldn't be flying LGA to DCA. Doesn't make much sense to delay the 134 people on my -88 so we can follow the 10 that AA has on the EMB by 20...

What is with the HAT argument?

Iron your shirt, button your jacket and wear your hat. You agreed to do it when you got hired, remember? You want to be treated like a professional, then take the first step, and have some professional pride in your appearance. Regardless of how you feel about it, it does make a difference to...

    Delta New Hires

If there are different things to choose from, then yes. So far, all MD-88''s except for one that had a single 73N opening.

    United and Strobe Lights

Unfortunately, common courtsey is irrevellant in the face of a FOM or FAR mandate. Besides, at night a set of strobes blinking on the end of the runway is a great way to not get squished.

    Virgin America getting closer

Umm...last I checked, they were still lacking that all important OPERATING CERTIFICATE!!! So, until they get one, this whole argument is pointless.

    Mesa will waive wake turb...

Does Mesa still not have cancellation pay?

    Mesa will waive wake turb...

Heading out to the runway the other night, heard a Mesa crew telling the tower they were about to time out. Tower helped out by moving them up behind a heavy DC-8 to get them out sooner. Mesa as they were taking the runway offered to waive the wake turb delay to make sure they didn't time out...

    No speed restriction below 10000

It went away not long after a Delta 727 tagged a bird climbing out of IAH. It was decided that the increased damage risk could not be properly quantified, so the FAA ended the test.

Delta Talking to Republic Mesa Can't Provide Aircraft

You'd think that the people who make these decisions at the major carriers would occasionally talk to each other. If they did, they would have figured out by now that there is a reason Mesa can undercut the rest of the industry... Maybe we need to teach modern history to all perspective...

    Meeting with Skywest,Inc

True about the cookies, but like anything else, they do make a nice change from the peanuts... Besides, nost ASA pilots haven't been out to SLC, so they don't know any better. Let them believe the hype for a little while!!!

    Meeting with Skywest,Inc

Jeez, if you're going to flame someone, at least be accurate. Plug's post got the sequence of questions and discussions right. Seems to me that Mr Atkin and the room laughed about the OBVIOUSLY joking question about the oatmeal cookies. Also, these CEO's get paid the big money to answer to...
