where is Northwest as far as hiring now?

    1. There are no "bypass pilots". Everybody that was furloughed has long-ago passed the "fish or cut bait" point. There are a few LOA pilos trickling back as their Leaves expire...but there are NO pilots on recall bypass. I am on recall bypass. There are others. Don't know where you got this...

    NWA Hiring scoop???

Hi Fly4hire, I did mention it. I can't afford to come back at $30 or $57 an hour. I do want to come back as I enjoy the upper midwest and the NW pilots are great to work with. I gave up my military career to pursue an airline career. I do have a pretty good gig as it will take me about 7...

    NWA Hiring scoop???

Did you forget the free $$$ we all got once they came out of BK? I was 2 yr and got $72k less taxes. I'd say ALPA did us a solid. Baja. Baja, Did not forget it at all. It was very nice and totally unexpected. Mine was not as large as yours and shrunk from the original announcement. The...

    NWA Hiring scoop???

Has anyone with NWA heard what the application process, minimums, and interview process will be? Additionally what is the timeframe, and where will newhires go (Equip/DOM)? Thanks I currently am furloughed from NWA and can't afford to go back. I was furloughed just short of one complete...

    Supplemental Income For Pilots??

Holding the line I agree. I'm doing my part. I'm defering recall until our MEC will get longevity credit for our furloughed buddies. Unfortunately, I don't think they care and there are too many junior pilots willing to work at $29 an hour. I can't and I'm not. Best of luck!

    Supplemental Income For Pilots??

I teach college classes online for the University of Phoenix on the side. You have to have a Masters Degree, but it has really helped out while I have been on furlough status with NW. I'm making about $20K a year with them (about the same amount that a NW pilot would make on first year pay)...

    Furloughed Longevity Pay

Hi All - I'm a furloughed pilot from NW. We do not have longevity provisions for our furloughed pilots nor, it seems, does our MEC see this as a priority. I'm curious if furloughed pilots from other legacy carriers received pay longevity credit upon their recall. Thanks for any inputs...

    JetBlue/Sept.10th

Second Chances I was extremely fortunate to be granted an interview with jetBlue on Sept. 10th. After watching David Neeleman on C-Span over the weekend, it only confirmed my desires to work for this awesome company and the culture that it fosters. This company has it right. It is night &...

If you could change a FAR...

I would change the FAR that limits you do only 30 Hours in 7 days and the FAR that makes you take one day off every 7. As a commuter, I would rather go to work and fly 30 - 45 hours in a 6 - 8 day period. I also would change the FAR that governs min crew rest and set that at 12 hours.

    ATP Rating programs

The reason I choose LONE EAGLE is that they have a presonable instructor to take you through the written tests (ALL ATP lets you sit in front of a computer) and they guaranteed that you would get your flight check (I've had friends that have had to go back 3 & 4 times before they got their...

    ATP Rating programs

ATP LONE EAGLE in Phoenix is where I went and I would highly recommend them. I have friends who went to all ATP and there are quite a few horror stories. Good luck!

    NWA Poolies and news

Agree with the previous posts. NWA will not recall until it hurts and they can't stand it anymore as pilots are there most expensive labor group. They also reached an agreement with the union over the use of more CRJs as long as they do not exceed 44 seats. These factors along with the...

    NWA Poolies and news

I'm a NWA furloughed pilot. I'll help as best I can. 1.) Lots of talk about recalls--but nothing official. The consensus rumor for the start of recalls occurs in the Sep-Dec 02 timeframe. Some people have heard that the length of the recall will take another 12 - 15 months to exhaust the...

    Unemployment Benefits & Military Retiree

I am a military retiree and was layed off from NWA on 1 Jan. Having never applied for Unemployment Benefits and being a retiree I was unsure of the process and concerned if I would be eligible or if my claim would be reduced because of retirement income. GOOD NEWS. Found out this morning...

    NWA

When I reported the additional 47 that means it is in addition to the 263. The 263 got their letter on 1 Nov informing us of our status starting on 1 Jan 02. There are a total of 347 furloughed pilots at NWA as of 1 Jan 02. We are anxiously awaiting the upcoming months to see if NWA starts...
