I was at recurrent last week and the program manager for my fleet confirmed the new building to be built on the north side of cmh by Bridgeway. The 350 sim was still being worked on by fsi techs, not sure when it will be up and running.
Yes, the crew food menu is alive and well however the quality of the meals varies wildly. You just order the night before from a preset menu and the company has the meals catered to the fbo.
I am a 9 year SIC at NJA and I am not in a hurry to get out. I would consider UA or maybe DL, but that's it for me. This is not the job it was 5 years ago but it sucks less than many other ones out there.
Just for the record I'm in the Falcon and was offered to start a day early this week. It seems to be more and more prevalent lately. Needless to say I did not dignify their request with a response.
Initial is usually 3000-5000fpm depending on load, more if you are light. I can almost always get 800fpm or more in the 40s without getting behind the power curve.
And for some different flavor:
Year 4 (90%)/5 NJA C750 SIC on 18 day schedule
$88.3k plus about another $6k for per-diem which I don't count as income. This is not counting our 50% 401k match or our company paid insurance. Block hours 304.
As a point of order we do not have a mandatory retirement age at NJA so who knows what our number will be. Just had a bunch of early retirements with our early out package so that's worth something.
I would love to get sent out for a real tour. I hate sitting at home on work days. I've flown 3 days in the last month and I'm in the X. I'm on vacation now so I don't even know if ill remember how to open the door when I get back. If I don't see any more show at home for the rest of the...
Wasn't bad at all for mid-July due to the heavy snowfall this year. Averaging around 1300 cfs or so. I am sure its probably lower than that now. It was supposed to be insane in early June - to the point where they weren't letting people run the canyon.
I just did a full day run on the Arkansas through Royal gorge, class 3 and 4 all the way. I can highly recommend it. Better than surfing Flightinfo for sure.
On duty at home again. I've flown 3 days out of the last 24 and I think my sanity is starting to pay the price. Better than being unemployed though. On the upside i've been able to get back on my workout schedule.
+1 for the Brew House. Also Moose's Tooth has great pizza if you make it over that way. As far as sight seeing spots you can drive around the north perimeter of the airport and there is a knoll by the fence that lots of people watch from over by Pt. Woronzof. ANC doesn't have that much...
I agree with whoever said Falcontrust in TMB. That is the model of what an FBO should be. The Air Center in SDL is excellent too. Don't forget to put an actual table with chairs in the crew room so I don't have to try and eat in a recliner.
I think you need to tell your friend to lay off the sauce. While we all agree it is possible that a furlough may still occur to suggest to 1000 of us might be out of work is ludicrous. The consensus seems to be 200-300 if it happens. NJA would be unable to keep up with demand with 1000 fewer...
I used to do it all the time when I was in ANC. They used to have a freezer if you dropped if off at the airport and they would keep them there until they went out. Never once had a problem. I forget what it cost but it definitely wasn't expensive.
Agreed.
FYI My brief for today -
APA-RIL-TEB-SAF-LAS. Gotta love the X.
Fortunately it didn't play out that way and we're still in TEB but I have definitely noticed an increase in flying in the last few weeks. Maybe it's spring break and maybe not but in any case the increase is welcome.
