When did you leave FLOPS
Hey shegavemeclap, when did ya leave FLOPS? I left 2 yrs ago and just recently quit flying for good given the terrible QOL on the 135 side of the house.
Your comments are encouraging. Its been awhile since I've followed Gemini (had a bud there awhile back)... are y'all still flying the 12-15 day "trips"?
I thought so. I was there 12/01-12/04 in the BJ so wouldn't have had the pleasure of crewin' with you. Lots of bubbas from FLOPS leaving now, any more make it your way? Sounds like Gemini shying away from those w/o big jet time... that's a shame but I guess its all about return on investment...
Geesh
The guy MAY be guilty of the crime, MAY be guilty of terrible judgement or low moral character, or MAY be the victim of a bogus charge and sensational news coverage... but that's all gonna have to come out later. It just baffles me that:
First--posters are stating that "he said" or "she...
Just add a pt61 PIC column
to the log book. I was a SIC at FLOPS for 3 years and logged everything sic but did keep track of the legs I flew and put them in the x-tra column I made for PT 61 for the legs I flew-- just to save time if I ever needed it. When I interviewed for the charter gig I...
Actually worse
than charter, at least where I'm at. I left FLOPS at the beginning of the year for a charter gig. Only 4 hard days off a month, but its still a better deal. Since we have very few pop-up trips its more like 12-15 days off a month. I hate seeing FLOPs trips on the schedule...
Careful with sids/stars
ditto earlier post from Wrknstff, if there is a fly over point on the sid/star you could be setting yourself up for trouble. The 850 treats all points as fly-bys even if you sequence thru waypoints in the manual mode (thru the systems control)--If a sid/star doesn't have...
I took
all the reserve (sick) time I could before giving notice... I think this is like 8 days in a calendar year. I was very concerned about not having my last check held up so I timed my departure to coincide with the end of a pay period. I then sent a signature/receipt required letter for...
Yeoooow-ouch
Well, the discussion in flowing that's for sure!!! Lots of good points but far too much emotion in some to carry much water. I am not going to take anyone's personal attacks and attempts to define my motives based on THEIR reading and interpretation of my post personally... I stand...
As a fairly new 135 charter guy, I wonder... With the recent bad publicity around 135 accidents (and another batch of fatalities on a charter flight into Pueblo)... when are the charter operators/managers/dispatchers gonna learn and start doing business smarter?!? There is legal and there is...
an FO
on the bottom third of the list is in the best position to openly represent pilots and get the union drive moving. Think of it, without the union, this guy is gonna languish as an FO for another few (3-5) years anyway... if there isn't a furlough. If the company cans him for his...
Not just golden boys...
In the good ol' bad ol' days, there were a couple guys I knew that stayed on the road for extended times, but I don't believe that happens anymore. Also back then, scheduling only offered OT to "their buds"... defined as guys who didn't squawk too much when day 8...
SF training
is getting much better as I see it. I just got done with a recurrent a couple weeks ago and there is definitely an inprovement over the previous two times I went. There's been an influx of T-1 guys/gals who REALLY know the systems and the aircraft inside out. I think they raise...
Ditto
what Apache said... a good place to gain experience but just that, no career potential. One definition of a career would include something similar to "advancing within a chosen profession". If that profession is aviation, being at FLOPS will move you along, but you will not go anywhere...
I've had enough. Was fun while it lasted, but is becoming less so with every tour, so I'm calling it quits. No more fractional flying, no more Flight Options for me. Three years is enough, I have flown my last tour. Any of you guys who have left FLOPS recently, could you please PM me so I know...
Anyone care to post the phone number to call about getting invited to an open house? Last one I got off this board connected to the employee benefits line. Thanks
don't worry too much...
just take it as it comes and you will be ok. Heck, If I couod get thru it almost anyone can. When you get info for your simuflite date, should include instructions on how to get accrss to their BE40 training materials. Could also call flt options training and ask for...
Hey folks, need a little help here. May take a 135 charter job if the money and schedule are right. Smart enought to know I'm not going to become wealthy beyond my wildest dreams... Think someone might look at the last salary survey and tell me what a be40 pic on the atlantic coast is "worth"...
