I think Daytona and Wu are making some pretty big assumptions: that the pilot is coming from a regional, isn't experienced, not typed, has barely 1500 hrs, can't handle it, etc. I'm less worried about an upgrade in initial than I am about a couple of hot heads who have a penchant for the hyperbole.

I'm trying to figure out what 3rd engine they're talking about. Even on the 727 it was generally the #2 that would stall. The only place they could "see sparks" would be on the R aft of wing where you'd often see APU torching.
That said, all MC's birds are 2 engine...
Either way, this is good news and provides for some significant improvement for the pilot groups. I'd rather go into a merger with a better CBA than the crap they had before.
