What about adding some first class seats to the 400 with 69 seats?

You obviously have no clue about the ATR or that accident. Faulty company procedures (and some other issues) killed that crew. I flew the ATR. Eagle and ASA still fly them iced up. You want to carry bags, gas, and people? You call in an ATR, not a Dash.

I have flown both, and DGdaPilot is absolutely correct. The ATR will haul a shjtload. It does just fine in the ice as well.

The Dash is a better short field airplane, has an APU (better than the prop brake "hotel mode" on the ATR) and from my anecdotal experience, is a little sturdier mechanically than the ATR.

The ATR is a good airplane, a breeze to land and cheaper to buy and operate than the Q400. It's similar systems will make it a breeze for long time dash drivers to learn. It would be a more than an accetable replacement for our older dashes.
