I'm guessing Hainan for TP?

I hear the bases are Brussels, Berlin, Zurich, Seattle & Beijing. Guy on pprune saying 500 hours a year.

Any ideas on salary?

And good luck TP - don't be a stranger 'round here

Ps - I think Genny has been banned - anyone know?

I'm going to be coy for a little while longer, but not Hainan, CSA, or Korean.

Thanks for the well wishes. Kind of sad to leave EK, but this new gig should work well over the long term.

Oops, have we hijacked the Etihad thread enough?

Boeing training?

I love how everyone is trying to get some clues......! LOL! How many PM's have you been bombarded with already TP?

Good luck to you TP. You always seem to have been very candid and generous with your advice to aspiring camel flies! All the best!

Dude!!!! We need to celebrate and properly see you off... When are you leaving?

There are many aspects to working over here that become blurred by the wide body left seat..for those back home who can't see past this...get some spectacles..if I had an airline to get recalled to...(mine got ruined)..I would most certainly be going back...widebody left seat is great...living in it all hours of the day and night is not

I sincerely hope that works out for you....! My friends at DAL are not spending anymore time at home than I am, you might not have the need to be on the left seat of a heavy, but you certainly don't remember what is like to be a junior F/O on a DC9 in DTW....! LOL!

No, newhires are not going to the DC9, they are being phased out by Jan of next year. The 717 is more like it. Your friends at DL now will be moving up the fast track as DL hires up to a rumored 600 pilots next year (300 were stated by the company), and that won't stop anytime soon. Close to 4,000 pilots are scheduled to hit age 65 between 2020 and 2024 alone, and many may leave earlier. And that's just at DL, not including AA or UAL which have similar numbers. That means less time on the 717 (unless you want to be senior) and more time moving up and finding the right fit for you. Your friends are luckier than you may think.

Bye Bye---General Lee

I really appreciate your thoughts going to Etihad, trust me this has been an agonizing decision that I have to make in the next two months. Obviously living in America is easier, it's prettier, and let's face it with a US carrier and US medical all you have to do is show up sober and your good to go. \
I may have mentioned earlier but the last time I was furloughed I flew in Saudi for NAS and flew in China for Shenzhen. I prob. disliked Saudi as much as I liked China. I'm really hoping life in Abu Dhabi is better. \
As far as staying in the US at the end of the day I'd rather but even as a line pilot/ sim instructor on 4th year pay working 16 days a month in the sim and flying a 3 day line trip I take home a whopping 5k and am working myself to death and STILL can't pay my bills so that's why going there as a checkairman captain with a wide body 2-4 years down the road is looking very, very good, esp considering that if mergered I'll prob be 50 yrs old and 500 off the bottom of the list, merged or not.\
Anyhow as you said its a personal decision luckily my family is on board with the move, they like the expat community. My wife really enjoys the expat life and my sons just need fishing!
Anyway if you know of anyone there or can shed any further light on daily life in the UAE I'd like to hear it, I know you are in Dubai but from what I saw at he interview they had restaurants, golf, booze, so exactly what is it that is missing that everyone seems to be willing to leave a 777 left seat and lots of cash to go be a delta or god forbid a USAir f/o how will struggle to pay bills and be a decade from reserve 320 capt\
Thanks again
