Of drinking and internet pornography

I have to admit that I have engaged in a more-ambitious-than-usual intake of certain ethanol-enhanced beverages since the furlough... But I have to clean up in time for my upcoming interviews. No more rum drinks at 1am while laughing along with The Daily Show. :)

I will NOT, however, admit to chasing girls around the internet or viewing sites of a racy nature. I learned my lesson years ago... You will get all kinds of interesting e-mails as soon as you start looking at nudie pics on the web. Haven't looked at one of those sites in many a moon and I STILL get mail suggesting I go look at Naughty Nancy and her barely-legal teen friends and the moo-moos they play with in the barn. :D

Besides, I find myself far more interested in certain soap actresses and, God help me, the women in recent SEARS COMMERCIALS. Don't even get me started on that shampoo that promises an "organic experience".

You think AirInc's magazine would like for me to write them a humourous article cataloguing the despair and delight of the furloughed pilot? Somehow I doubt they'd print it.

For this month, I have an 0300 show time (I'm a dispatcher), and I live in a crash pad just S of DFW.

I wrote on our Bulletin Board, "Quiet - 0200 wake up, and yes, I'm already pi$$ed about that, please dont make it worse."

I find it quite a dissapointment if I wake up before 11:00. Fortunately it doesn't happen often :) Afterwards the excitement continues with endless hours of web brousing, email sending and resume updates. I'm glad I'm not the only one. This string of posts is oh soooo much funnier since I am in the same boat :)

cheers

Adrian

Well I am not furloughed, but I am in just about the same routine.

I woke up at 11 until just a little bit ago, now i seem to wake up at 9:30 sharp, doesn't matter what time I go to bed, 10pm or at 4 am i wake up at the same time, I HATE taking naps during the day, unlike my wife and so far all of my co-pilots and captains....

I seem to be functioning pretty good on little sleep, only after pulling a few 14 hr duty days with 10hr flights in there, that's when I need my sleep, after painfully making some mistakes that were fatigue related. I don't take that for a joke anymore.

I love cheese, but I have never eaten government cheese yet, as I still have a pretty good ob ( at times)

I usually wake up around noon-1PM. I am employed, but don't work much. I eat lunch around 4PM, dinner around 10PM, and a bowl of ceral at 3AM before I go to bed.

I hate waking up early. And early to me is before 11AM.

I think I am destined to fly freight.

Yea, i guess 11 is the magic number, normally go to bed at 2am, and up at 11. I think the best part of the day is just beginning!

night riser

Nothing like being awake during the entire darkness of night. Such is the life of the freight dog. I'm up at around 1230, find stuff to do until my show time of around 5pm and my duty day typically ends around 430am. I start my day watching the sun go down and am rolling in bed as the sun comes up. The whole time my body saying 'it's morning, why are you going to sleep?' **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** sun.

Well I work nights at a NOC, so I sleep days for the most part.

Since very few problems happen I just spend my nights on /., Fark, and Flightinfo (just waiting until the weekend so I can go flying). I wake up at about 6:00pm.

Anyone want my job? *Waits for the calls, as he answers another idiots question.*

*In the background*

*Ring Ring*

Under my breath: "Another f***er."

*Picks up phone*

"MY SITES ARE DOWN!!!!"

"Network maintenance, as stated in our network status message." *Not said but implied* "Which of course you didn't read because your a French moron"

"DO YOU REALIZE WHAT TIME IT IS?!?!"

*Annoyed* "Yes, it's 4:45am EST"

"YOU DO KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS HERE?!?!?"

"Well mister, XXXX XXXX, your in France so it would be 10:45am there."

"This is not a good time to do maintenance, shouldn't you be doing in in the middle of the night."

*Getting more annoyed, he interrupted my movie*
"Well for 90% of our customers it's the middle of the night."

"It's not here."

"Well I could just let this network problem simmer, until it is finally exploited by a hacker causing potentially our entire network go down, when ever they choose to do it? Would you like me to do that?"

"Oh... just get it up as soon as possible."

"I will try to work as fast as possible."

"Thank you good night."

*Goes back to watching the DVD that I brought*

Just a little sample of a typical night.

Then turn on the tv and check out the weather channel and see which girl has gotton pregant, looks like heather tesch , this time , man have you seen the ring that christen got what a big one.

Then check out the out of town lotto states to which one is paying more money, call my pilot buddies and see if any of them would be willing to split the flight , to go get some tickets.

Then , shower and head in for my flight classes, get caught up on the local airport skinny, you could turn this in to a show ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
