Johnson- does your CEO work under a contract that clearly defines what his job is?

The what kind of plane and how many I believe IS a mgmt function- what is a union function is the scope of their contract with their pilots- IMO- delta ought to be able to order as many damn RJs as they want- as long as dalpa's flying them. that is business on every level, not just labor groups-. Remember there are two sides to the labor curve

outsourcing is something all alpa pilots would like to have back with their 20/20 vision. I'm more critical of dalpa bc they voted to release scope in 2006, out of bankruptcy, in a pure greed move- when they knew the damage theyre leadership on outsourcing had already done to the airline career.

The poster above had it correct- bill's under the impression that we all ought to sacrifice for him- what he fails to mention is his own pilot groups complicity. Typical boomer. That and he has a lot of pride and just can't believe how far the delta pilot has fallen in the eyes if the rest of the industry. They're sellouts and have been for some time.

VA- you guys just keep competing- I'll be at southwest competing against you- but I like the challenge- little socialist pricks like bill just want us to lay down so they can eat and drink grapes and get fat

hey prick top ,black uniform is still better than looking like a turd in your crappy hat and double brested blazer you tool...., sw, flying a trash can around and pulling gear for 18 years until u might see an upgrade, money might be great but u work your a$$ off. that 737 seems to have a cpt and a FE, my god, what a sh$t work place that flight deck is, and you pole smokers still don't understand what payscale SW had in year 4 of operation, btw, guys might hate to hear redwood on the radio, but they r good enough to give a ride to work.....

Sweet a free laptop to jack off with when you fantasize over how you are screwing the industry working for scraps........

Ahh yes another expert who has this industry all figured out.I don`t think you are aware of how many refugees there are here from former card carrying ALPA carriers.Usair,America West,Aloha,ATA,ABX,Spirit,Midwest Express, and numerous regional carriers.A lot of us where out of jobs, and this carrier gave us a opportunity to hopefully build a great career, and they provided a means of a paycheck.Yes it may not be as good as your UPS pay check, but it is a paycheck.
I think it is safe to say that when we all got in to this industry we all had dreams of flying a wide-body around the world for a Major carrier make a boat load of money.A lot of us where doing well, but Airlines disappear and we have to provide for our familys.I am guessing, but I am pretty sure that when you went in to the Military your first dream was to be a fighter pilot,we`ll that just didn`t work out for you and you settled for transports. Then you got out of the Military and I am sure you applied to all the Majors,Well how did that work out for you?I am sure flying boxes around wasn`t first on your list.Ups is a great company and congratulations on your career, but I do belive UPS first contracted to many other airlines to move their freight. So even the mighty UPS had to start somewhere, and many of the pilots prior to you felt the pain of a upstart airline.

Did we realy release scope to 90 seaters?? WOW! When did that happen. Wave, sit down and read what Delta's scope clause really is.....76 seats. PERIOD!!

All this from a guy who made it into the shallow end of the pool becuase he shelled out THOUSANDS to get a type rating so he could get on with the beloved SWA. Would you still be slogging around the DCI system if you didn't have a rich Mommy and Daddy? Maybe......but that wasn't a Delta Pilot's fault.....Should we have stapled all RJ's or would that be too condescending Wave to you and your fellow brethren??

You get on here and preach about capitalism when paying dues doesn't seem to be in your vocabulary....paying SIMCOM was your answer. Good job....YGTBSM!!! Before your time Junior, there was a group of toolbags called the RJDC and they carried your water......as much as you hate to admit it, you wanted my seat, you'd work for peanuts to get it, and now you are stuck in a 737 right seat for YEARS after this merger......

It's not a VA Pilot's fault when they are furloughed and end up there, that's a shame....it shouldn't have to be that way, but getting on here like Ralph bragging about how great things are ......(COMPARED to WHAT?? The Street? A Commuter?) drags everybody down.....

Rant over......Hey Wave, wear a flag tie so I know who to bitchslap next time I'm in the terminal!!:uzi:

You're an angry elf.
:D

At the risk of redirecting this thread to the QOL at Redwood, what is the Cali tax impact on commuters? Any unavoidable state or municipal taxes withheld from an out of state resident? For example the City of Denver demands something like 2/10ths of 1%, and it only matters that you're based there, regardless of residency. Anything similar?

Don't worry, when the Spirit / VA merger happens, ALPA will be on property with our spectacular Spirit contract.

The various times I was based out there I had to pay unemployment and disability taxes as a part of my paycheck. It's not that much, and I got it back from them when ATA shut down and I collected UE from CA at a higher amount than I would have had to collect from TX.

The Californian tax authority tried to come after numerous non-resident ATA pilots for back income taxes. We explained about the RLA and that only about 5 minutes of each flight were over California territory. We were flying to HI. They backed off. Having said that, if you fly SFO-LAX, the state might come after you for taxes incurred on that flight, since you never left the state.

Good luck.

I feel like every time I log on and read these boards, I become a little more stupid. Life must really be bad if all you have to p!ss and moan about is threads on incorrect boards. I have a really hard time believing you are professional pilots.

Sadly, I can :erm:
