As of three months ago, no flight crews are allowed to purchase anything
in CUN's duty free. I can speculate, but anyone know the real
deal?

Most airport Duty-free is just a bad joke now, anyway. The big benefit is not paying sales tax, and the 10% discount for crew, so on a $30. bottle, you save six bucks. . . . Whoopee.

On the last leg home, it might be worth it, but otherwise, lugging that crap along for two or three more days, just to save twelve bucks, well, it ain't worth it.

As for cigars . . . I was comparing duty free prices on Dominican cigars in Punta Cana . . . I can get them for 35% less at home.

I just heard the same thing about Guadalajara International Airport (GDL). Hmmmm

Does this mean you cannot buy anything, or you just have to pay taxes on it?
