I came across some posts at airforceots.com about JMAC. This competition sounds like a blast!
Google tells me that the Army swept every event at the last competition in October. I play semi-pro beach volleyball. Wouldn't mind kicking some Army/Navy butt on behalf of the Air Force. However, I'm...
Almerick,
Airforceots.com has all the info you could hope for and more. The forum's archives have a ton of info. Every now and then an OTS FTO (or whatever they're called now) will set a date to personally answer questions of incoming OTs. Great site.
I previously had an AFR slot so I did a...
These forums were enormously helpful as I went through the application process. I don't mind paying it forward to save these guys some legwork.
By the way, give me a call when you get a chance. I've got some news for you and Murph.
ANG/AFR POC info
MM,
If you'd like to PM me your email address, I can email you contact info for every Guard and AFR unit in the country.
Good luck to you.
a little clarification
Psysicx,
As far as I know, every FTU unit hires off-the-street (non-rated) except for the Reserve squadrons. As mentioned, Tuscon stipulates that you must be from within the unit.
I got picked up by an FTU squadron. During the interview, the first topic that was...
"If you want to fly fighters be sure to enlist and be part of OPS."
Enlisting in Ops is great because of the opportunity for face time with the pilots; however, that advantage only applies to the unit you're enlisted with.
In my humble (and speculative) opinion, any fighter board might be...
For what it's worth
I have a few friends who started tweets last year during the summer. All of them said that they would have preferred to have flown the Texan solely because of its air conditioning.
clarification
stlpilot,
"I never said the guys in the unit were rude..."
...And I never said you said it. I just have to throw in my two cents when I hear bad things said about good people. Good luck to you with everything.
Kelleyadai,
Got your PM. My computer is acting up and your message...
"downright rude"?!
Gotta agree with kelley. All of the pilots that I met at the 147th were pretty cool. In no way whatsoever were they "downright rude".
BTW, for those interested in reading up on the unit...there's a decent article on the 147th in Code One's 2002 second quarter edition...
just to clarify
"As mentioned Klamath is looking for F-15 IPs only. A better bet would be with the Portland F-15 unit."
Apply to both...CCDiscoB is right about Klamath only having positions for Eagle IPs, but that doesn't mean you can't get the job as a civilian.
So how does a guy with zero...

Nikes,
It sounds to me like you're under the impression that you have to have time in an Eagle in order to apply to an ANG Eagle FTU unit. I interviewed with them this summer and I am a civilian. I only had 100 hours and a PPL at the time. So, in other words, civilians can get interviews...
I'm not sure where the Medical Flight Screening at Brooks is on the Guard process' timeline. I'm assuming I won't get a date to go to Brooks until my package has been approved by the Guard Bureau, right? If so, I would still be going to Brooks prior to AMS, correct? Thanks in advance. - Ryan Paul
I read your post below. Congrats on the Herc slot! I just got a Guard slot myself and am in the exact same position you are...I just got my commissioning physical and I submitted my TS security clearance forms very recently.
Anyway, it would be cool to correspond with someone who is at the same...
Definitely go ahead and get your AFOQT and BAT test out of the way. I recall that most of the units I applied to allowed current college students to apply as long as they only had a certain amount of time left...may have been a semester, may have been a year. Call the POC at the units you want...
What in the world?!
Wow, that is easily the most nonsensical post I have ever seen on a forum.
Listen, first let me apologize for my inability to see the military sub-forum listed a few spots above this one which I obviously have now found.
Second, I do not need any actual interview "gouge"...
