Just had a buddy who interviewed with Aloha this week. Haven't heard the results or numbers, but still, encouraging that the interviews are happening!

"See if anyone can top this. I am #9328 and was a XXX 727 FE. My last flight for XXXXX was on 9/23. I spent most of the past 8 months as a paper XXX 767 FO and was finally bumped to XXX 300. The ONLY work I did for XXXXX during this time was one day of taser...
One of the safest flying machines on earth. "Those who don't study the course of history are doomed to repeat it." This applies to all; pilots, engineers, navs, mechs, etc...God save those who have gone before...
Industry is cyclical, up and down, growth and decline are part of the natural order. I had a buddy back in the early nineties who was a shoe in for interviewing. Lots of heavy time, B-52 flight commander in desert storm and couldn't get a civilian flying job. So he went from the Air Force to the...
Post 9/11 they were running about 1800flight/day, pre was about 2200. I think I saw they were hoping for about 2000/day for the summer, don't know how long that will last, anyone with any info, chime in. They put lots of planes in the desert and they aren't coming back anytime soon. They also...

I was truely amazed at the following true event. During the last few days of work while standing around and chatting with some fellow captains, knowing that I was at the top of the furlough list, all they could talk about was the fact that they may get displaced from the 777 to the 767...
That's funny, that's the way I sometimes felt about flying in the military. At least in the airlines, you know exactly where you stand...seniority...seniority....seniority...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - UBS Warburg made history earlier this week: It publicly told investors to sell shares of a company it just had helped bring public.

I'll second the USAA thing. When I checked last year. Family of three would have been $83/month for up to 6 months. A lot cheaper than COBRA. Good luck.
Any information about these guys would be appreciated. They are out of New Hampshire. UAL furloughees have been offered consideration there, but I don't know anything about them. Thanks.
Let's face it. Most pilots are greedy. I love the post about the April guy not getting furloughed and then being pissed about having to pay a few bucks. That says it all right there. The MEC is doing it's pilot a great dissevice by not immediately addressing contract issues and not letting it's...
Just another furlough guy. With the other 5000 or so guys and gals flooding the market, it might be a bit of a wait. I did have a friend interview at Avolar, they will only hire you if you have a Falcon rating, might be worth checking(if they ever get off the ground.)
For those who aren't...
I'll second the C130 troop seat feel, especially in that 50 seat RJ that isn't more than a few years old. I would have stood up the whole flight (except for t/o and landing of course), but, there wasn't any headroom.
Hercdrvr...not missing the days of yore...
While Space-A'ing for yet anthor 90 interlude on United gracious furlough program, got to fly the inaugural EWR-IAD flight yesterday on ACA's newest A/C, still has that new car smell. I can't describe the excitement of flying on a COMFORTABLE regional jet, leather seats more comfortable than any...
