Mistated facts

New health plan out this week -

Pilots will pay nearly $1600 per month for health insurance !!! This doesn't include dental, vision or life insurance.

Once again you are grossly distorting the facts. First of all you are comparing apples to oranges. The previous plan had a $25,000 cap and is no longer available under the new law.

Mesa offers numerous options including plans at $49.50 per month.

Do you guys have any limit on the percentage you pay, or can they just charge you whatever they feel like? The amounts for employee plus family($545.50, $748.00, $822.00) seem outrageous! If a junior first officer has a family, how much is left after health care costs to pay the rest of the bills?

Massive ripoff. You'd almost be better buying from a $500 million website disaster that should work now. It's called Obongocare.

This is per pay check. Not per month.

There are lots of companies that only make insurance available to the employee - particularly now that Obamacare has saved everyone. Expect to see this become the norm - Company offers insurance to the employee only and spouse and kids buy on the individual market. I would do the same if I was making the decisions.

That pretty much has to be the entire take home pay for new Mesa first officers, doesn't it? What are they supposed to use to pay for food and shelter?

Sure, but they don't have to pay any taxes. :D
