Certainly I do however, a little here a little there, Calgary, FLL on Spirit, does not allow any ONE large competitor to gain a foothold and offer any "real" service. Granted Airtran is a threat but NOT with 5 slots. Now give them 15-20 just like SW and then they DO have a problem. All very self serving to minimize impact. Certainly it would be in OUR (WN) best interest to gain more slots, with this the consumer ultimately would be the beneficiary in a much bigger way.

Southwest should have bought the regulators a pool table or plasma t.v.

FL already has more slots at LGA than WN by a large number. Remember, when we got the ATA slots back, they made a deal with CAL to get some of their slots in exchange for leaving EWR. With the addition of these slots, WN will have the smallest presence at LGA of just about any other carrier.

Rightfully so. The other carriers have been serving LGA a lot longer than Southwest. It takes years to get slots and sustain an operation in LGA, not months. Southwest should not get special treatment just because it's Southwest. The airport is over-congested. It does not need new airlines expanding there.

Maybe the DOT can say they need to sell some of their slots (even though I think that's not right), but these slots belong to US Airways and Delta. It's THEIR slots, they should be able to sell them to whomever they want...

Jet, you are correct if it was truly a free market. The problem is that the gooberment has its fingers throughout the aviation system.
