Yes, NWA is parking some planes, but they're ALSO buying new ones now, and, the ones they're buying now are long-haul, requiring MORE pilots to man them than the ones going away. They're also going to replace the WHOLE DC-9 fleet with a new 100 seat airplane, from what I've heard.
So, as I understand it, they will have a large net GAIN of airframes, which means more pilots.
Whether you decide to stay where you are, or get one with one of the now or soon to be hiring bigger airlines, I hope it works out well for you.
