I believe there is a way around the 330 day rule. If you work overseas and you can prove that your primary residence is overseas then you don't have to worry about the 330 day rule. i could be wrong on that though....

you are correct. there are two tests listed on the irs website. 330 days out of the country or you have to be a "bonafide resident" of another country.
