If you got a deal this quickly the company wants something important from you. The question is are they willing to provide enough sugar to allow you to take the medicine without barfing. I'm guessing they will throw money at you in exchange for something that you would normally oppose. It will probably work, money has a way of trumping idealism.

Personally, I won't vote to give up anything. To me, there's not a whole lot to be "negotiated." Everything has already been given on a "temporary concession" basis.

How many Delta retirements are coming? Wouldn't take much for a junior guy to think... "once 65 hits I'll rocket up the list... it won't get me" the 60 Year old guy is just trying to max it out so he won't care.

717's going to Pinnacle

My prediction:

:D14% increase effective DOS.

:D 2% increase to DC plan.

:D Improvements to pay, vacation and sick leave.

:D Annual increases of 3% for 4 years of contract.

:angryfire Increase in the number of 76-seaters. Decrease in the overall number of RJ's. Majority of 50-seaters will be gone in 5 years.

" money has a way of trumping idealism..."

I LIKE that. Very nicely put.

Reminds me of the story:

A guy asks his wife if she loves him. "YES! Of Course."

"Well my friend the banker wants to "do" you."

"NO WAY!"...she says.

"But, he's offering $10,000...we could really use the money."

"NO WAY!"...she says again.

A day later, he tells his wife..."My God, he just called and said he will pay $100, 000 !!!."

"Well we COULD use that money to get us out of debt, pay for school for the kids, and pay off the house!! Okay...if I have too ! "

He call's his Buddy to seal the deal, but the offer is back down to $10,000.

"WTF?" ...he asks his Banker friend.

"Well"...he says..."We've pretty much established what she is...NOW, we're just dickering over price."

Yup.

Now, put your hats on and go to work like the professionals we know you are.

:)

Love,

YKW
