Anything you say can and will be held against you in the court of law. Even tone, meaning, pace at which you speak will be scrutinized. Honestly it was probably a good idea for them not to say anything. That's what this country and it's law system has come to.
That is ridiculous.

For the safety of the passengers and crew, every evacuation checklist or memory action for evacuation includes "advise ATC".

The crew will have to offer an explanation as to why this was not done. Under the circumstances, there may be a reasonable explanation.

It is good news that there were no serious injuries or fatalities.

They were probably throwing their empties out the windows instead of declaring an emergency.

New York NY (La Guardia) [KLGA] special observation on the 5th at 11:40am EST (1640Z)wind 320? at 14 knots, visibility 1/4 mile, runway 04 visual range 2,400 feet variable to 4,000 feet, snow, freezing fog, 700 feet scattered, 1,200 feet overcast, temperature -3?C (27?F), dewpoint -5?C (23?F), altimeter 30.15, automated station with precipitation discriminator, surface visibility 1/2 mile, pressure rising rapidly, 0.05 inch (water equivalent) of precipitation in the previous hour.

That is a pretty good tail wind  with snow etc...
Hard to be sure, but all five NY metro airports were showing winds that would have represented less than 5K tailwind component up to 15 minutes after the event. All airports reported rising wind velocity around 1630Z.

Was Jenny on the JS? If so she might have distracted the real pilots with her smacking while consuming her 3rd sundae.

Disappointing to hear how long it took for it to sink in to the Tower Controller that he had an aircraft mishap in progress. Even with the weather conditions as poor as they were, he seemed shocked that an aircraft could have had an issue.

Way out of line. That could have been any one of us from any airline.

Hurts don't it. Now the shoe is on the other foot. A mistake was made and you are right. It could happen to anyone of us. Seems like when we make a mistake we are DANGEROUS and a bunch of WILD COWBOYS.

Think about it.

This goes under the category of "has happened to some of the best among us".

Nothing but empathy for that crew right now.

I work for the same company you do. It was still out of line.

If the military flew snowy sorties we wouldn't be having this conversation.

There it is! The military does fly in the snow, conducting operations that would make your head hurt.

I don't get it! How can a pilot wearing a double-breasted blazer go off the runway?

They got a wind check. They followed Delta SOP. Must have missed a call on guard.

Honestly though, unless I am wrong, tower gave braking action for the other runway, but not theirs. Looking at the pictures the runway was obviously contaminated.
