I had some free time and did a little math to see whom is getting paid and whom is the most under paid.

These are what I found to be updated current contract $$ #'s.

All are RJ pay scales. 40- 60 seat. BigSky at this time dosn't have any jets but their new contract has a pay scale for them.

$ per HR X min bid gaurente X bids per yr = base yearly pay.

ComAir
1st yr CA 56$hr X 75 X 12 =50,400
5th yr CA 63$hr X 75 X 12 =56,700

SkyWest
1st yr CA 56$hr X 75 X 12 =50,400
5th yr CA 63$hr X 75 X 12 =56,700

Air Wisky
1st yr CA 54$hr X 75 X 12 =48,600
5th yr CA 62$hr X 75 X 12 =55,800

ASA
1st yr CA 54$hr X 75 X 12 =48,600
5th yr CA 61$hr X 75 X 12 =54,900

BigSky
1st yr CA 50.21$hr X 72 X 13 =46,900
5th yr CA 58.20$hr X 72 X 13 =54,475

Mesa
1st yr CA 51.17$hr X 70 X 13 =46,564
5th yr CA 57.64$hr X 70 X 13 =52,452

AirWisky has a hire scale for their BAE 146 that I did not included.

are these straight out of the contracts, because if they are I don't really see what all the hype is about Mesa, they aren't far off from the others..... granted I hear they did take a pay cut!!!!
But people on here make it sound like they are south of the border wages. Just an observation.

Nice comparison Othello. But your numbers are a little low.

Comair 1st yr Capt pay 57.99
Air Whiskey 1st yr Capt pay 58.57
ACA First yr Capt pay. 57.41

But hey.. whats a few dollars over 1000 hours of pay per yr... right?

Mesa 70 seat Capt pay takes 6 yrs to exceed 1st yr 50 seat Capt rates at ARW and Comair and 5 yrs to exceed ACA 1st yr 50 seat Capt rates. I dont have the 70+ seat numbers for Comair and ARW. Maybe someone in the know can post them to get a direct comparison.

Now do the FO rates when you have time.

Mesa takes 7 yrs to come close to Comair, Air Whiskey and ACA 2nd yr FO rates.

Also be sure to mention work rules including cancellation and premium pay.

The numbers I used I think were from when the contracts were new so Mesa just signed should be what they are making now.

And RJpilott it seems your correct about the others being more than the #s I found bye now. Air Willy signed pre 9/11 I am guessing about 3% a year incracese.

Iam just talking base pay so for sure Mesa's crap reg's will hurt there pocket book even more.

Min pay if your like me and have sat Reserve for 2 yrs and never fly over gaurentee.

Hours Gaurnteed per year.

75X12 = 900 hr COM, SKYWest, AIRWilly, ASA
72X13 = 936 hr Big Sky
70X13 = 910 hr Mesa

ACA 2nd yr FO 35.19 (effective May 9 if no concessions) x 75 x 12= 31,671 (and still WAY underpaid)

Othello-

Maybe I am missing something here, but why does BigSky and Mesa get 13 months in their pay equation? That really changes the numbers by thousands.

Also for whats its worth, someone posted a Comair 1st year rate of 57.99. That is effective in June 2003. It is currently 56.03, but I am not aware of any first year captains.

I just got off probation at Air Wisconsin. My pay as soon as I am out of training (read 1st leg of OE) will be $43.01 per flight hour. That is 2nd year pay. 2nd year pay on the 50 seater is $35 and change per hour. Mesa makes less than an uneducated secretary (oops, I mean administrative assistant.)
