Plane Crashes Into House in Florida NeighborhoodMonday, June 12, 2006
TAMPA, Fla. — One person was killed and another seriously injured after a small plane crashed Monday into a home in an upscale neighborhood south of Tampa, authorities said.
The plane crashed about 12:30 p.m. into a home in the Davis Islands area near downtown Tampa, starting a fire, fire Capt. Bill Wade said. He didn't know if the victims were on the plane or on the ground. Firefighters were battling the blaze at the home.
The area was experiencing heavy rain at the time of the crash due to approaching Tropical Storm Alberto, but it wasn't immediately clear if weather was a contributing factor.
