Just doing some research about Newark. I was wondering if one were based there and didnt want to commute, where are good places to live? Would be looking for a family and within an hour and a half drive. Thanks!

PA is popular. Lehigh Valley (Allentown area) off of I78, the poconos area off of I80 and Doylestown north of Philly are all popular. It is, generally, less expensive than NJ or NY. Quite a few people do live in NJ. More taxes, but hey, it's closer.

I drive to work maybe 3-5 times a month at most. The hr drive from PA is nothing.

In dens on the riverbank.....

Anywhere but....

I'd check out Red Bank...Pretty far North on the shore, about 40 mins away.

Outside of Newark there are plenty of nice town, and yes they're expensive. On the plus side you'll see better schools for the kids, appreciating home values. I think pilots don't like Jersey because just about everyone there makes more money than them ;-)
