I am an independent flight instructor with 1700 TT and 10 ME and am wondering what my next step should be, especially with the low multi time. BTW my primary goal is to go the airline route. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if you have your ATP or meet ATP mins go to cape for couple months. Build your PIC multi and go to a regional

Some Freight company might bend the rules with very low multi time. I use to work for a 135 company flying 402's and Seneca. Their published mins where 135 IFR and 100 multi. I got a friend an interview, and he was hired with 20 multi.

Anywhere you can go to get some multi time - If you are independent instructing can you find an FBO to contract at for advanced pilot training in ME?
Or try to get a gig flying parachute jumpers / skydivers, even if you start in their SE, a lot of these places have ME planes they also fly.

Yeah, you really want to do a 135 IFR checkride with 10 hrs. multi time.
Cape Air is not gonna take you with 10 hrs ME.
Go to work for one of the pilot mill flight schools for a year or so and walk away with 2-300 hrs ME.
