What is so wrong about "with you"

I am not sure, but I believe this comes from the old, old days, before there was nearly 100 percent communication or radar coverage by ATC. In those days you gave position reports, remember them PTA-ETN, to any available facility, often the FSS. You would announce something like "Denver radio, NXXXXX with you for a position report," which they would then relay to ATC. They were not expecting your call. I got in on the tail end of this, early 60's, and I have heard people of all levels using "with you" ever since. Just a thought.
 
Well supposing Judge Alito gets approved, will he then say "I am with you" to the rest of the justices? :)
