Quick Question...

Does Unitied operate any of the NG Series of 737s?

Thats what I thought.

The line guys in OMA keep insisting that United flys a -800 in there. They claim the flight tracker even shows 738 as the ac type. I think its 733, and they just cant read!

Although, the airplane is really long.... Whats the size comparison of the -300 to -800.... guess, I'll check Boeing's site.

The -300 equates to the -700 and the -400 equates to the -800.

-800 = 129 FT 6 IN
-400 = 119 FT 7 IN
-300 = 109 FT 7 IN

800 is 10 Feet longer than 400

I suppose if you want to split hairs. Boeing intended the -700 to replace the -300 and the -800 to replace the -400. The -900 is new unto itself. The NGs are great to fly but the -400 lands better than the -700 or -900. The gear seems to be softer.
 
Could be what those OMA guys see on flight tracking is "B73B" rather than "B738". I've seen various designators for the 737s in ATC computers, one of which divided them as B73A (100/200), B73B (300/400/500), and B73C (600/700/800/900).

After a couple of adult beverages under the concourse on a cold Nebraska day, a "B" and an "8" could look a lot alike.
