just curious if anyone knows what is going to happen to this terminal...i was looking at a stamp of it today and got to thinking how cool looking it is. would be a shame to see it destroyed...

The terminal is an historic landmark and won't be destroyed. JetBlue is scheduled to begin construction to add a modern gate system onto the existing tunnels.

This is how I understand the situation of the old TWA bulding.........

You can't smash it due to the fact it has been classified a Landmark, so the plans I saw has the front of the old terminal remaining while the rest of the structure is transformed into an additional jeBlue terminal. The old TWA building would not be used, the construcion and the new jetBlue terminal would occur behind the structure. If I recall correctly the Tunnels from the entrance to the gates was where the construction would occur.

As I said this is how I understood the project.

Truly the most beautiful airline terminal in the world. Too bad TWA 747's and L1011's are not sill parked there.

Designed by Eero Sarringen ... Sarrengin ... Saarengen ... (ah the hell with it)
