Hey guys and gals..

Just got off of the SWAPA board with great news..
The hiring numbers that the company has released to SWAPA are as follows..

2004 430 new hires..

2005 470 new hires..

2006 500 new hires..

History tells us that they almost always hire over projections..

Awesome news! :)

Just to add to the confusion, I have also heard that they will soon be dropping the type rating requirement again. It seems as if they conducted a study, and they have concluded that they want more experience in 121 ops than in the 737. FWIW

I would be seriously surprised.

There are plenty of experienced 121 guys who have the types. Why would they want to drop this requirement? It helps them know who really whats to work at SWA.

I am not so sure that 121 experience really even makes a difference (can't hurt, but probably doesn't give much of a leg up either). Its all about attitude, they will train to proficiency. Read Nuts!

Preparing to raise the %.@. flag...

I have also heard...
From where?

It hasn't been "experience in the 737" that they've wanted in an applicant for a long, long time. And I don't see any signs that they value 121 experience over any of the other kinds of experience that they get presently.

What exactly is the source of this rumor, pray tell?

Mike,

everytime you post something....I smile.

Keep it coming....its refreshing...kinda like adding chlorine to this pool that we are swimming in.

great news and thanks for it!

I didnt read this anywhere..

We now have a new video feature in the SWAPA web site..This was info straight off the telecast..Pretty cool..

I wish I could somehow link to it and post the link..

As for re thinking the type rating..

Ive not heard of this and as others have said there really isnt any reason for them to go back to not having to have it in this job market ..

You just never know..But I doubt it..

what about military

So if they drop the type rating and want 121 experience, I guess that means that LUV will no longer be accepting any military pilot applicants. Someone please tell me this is all just rumor and elaborate on who what where, etc this was heard.

Yea.....Baby!

I LUV those numbers...........

Thanks Mike!
