For goodness sake people, CHEER UP!!!

It's like this. It's not that BAD. They have postponed the Jan 20th class by 14 days. It is now on Feb 3rd:)
And they are having another class in Feb (17th):D
So the upshot is, that there will be 3 more classes in Jan/Feb than any of us thought last month.

I, too have been here way too long. Nov 17th 2001, dived in, tanned, healthy, witty, all-round party animal. Now lily skinned, knock kneed, gasping old age pensioner. But since I have grown gills I can happily sit on the bottom, covered in slime, and wait for the plug to be pulled out. So, come on team, diehards, stalwarts, chums, we've waited this long, let's not let a 14 day delay upset us. Come on, let's all sing a song;

If I wait any longer,
I'll shrivel and die,
If I catch pneumonia
And head to the sky,
But at least I'll be happy
To know Southwest cares
I'd have been on their property
If they'd increased their fares

Instead they've been selling
tickets at half price
while I've sat at home
And wasted my life
But at least my wife's happy
I can now ice a cake
And sew on a button
And wash, scrub and bake

I've watched this old forum
Most days for a sign
That classes will start soon
And I'll fly the line
But now I am used to
The air of despair
But I still get the feeling
That Soutwest do care

They send me a letter
Quite regularly
It said we would like you
To go test your wee
We know that you did it
A while ago
But police have suggested
You never drive slow

So this is the end of
My terrible verse
If it's not to your liking
Then you try your worse
To tell all the poolies
And all of the rest
Why you'll keep treading water
And wait for Southwest

Very good Pegasus! You and I have too much time on our hands! The newsline info from yesterday helped soften the blow.

You're right, um, Rightbettor.
I listened to the telephone message too, and thought it was good news overall. I just wonder where the other 12 people for the Jan class are from. Not our list, obviously.

A Haiku

Pegasus,

You inspired me to do something I hadn't done since 4th grade; write poetry.

A HAIKU by SLUG

We are da pool rats
We wanna fly red bellies
Patiently waiting

Thank you, Thank you, No, Thank you

I'm working on something in the Pegasus literary style, but haven't achieved that level of nirvana yet.

Concerning the fact that we only made it down to 10 on the list, I believe lies in the theory that our stop-loss brethern were not well represented on the board. Now that they are assigned the 6 Jan class, I feel our statistical model of actual vs. listed poolies will flow better.

Not counting, but, 1 year, 1 month, 11 days

Peace and Love

Slug

P.S. Is there any way to get your wording to center or space over on the page? A true poem should not be left justified.

Pegasus & Slug,

Outstanding as Always!

Now if only I could write some poetry too!

I don't have the skills so I am not going to even try...
I'm having a hard time trying to remember how to fly...

Hey wait a sec - that rhymes, does it count???

Slug, I'm with you at 1 yr, 1 mon, and 11 days... Hope to see you in DAL in Feb!

Haiku

I loved your poem, IVAUIR,

I was going for that lesson of two contrasting, diverging themes; different but linked. I brought the brashness and rawness in my first two lines with the graceful simplicity of my third line. All together saying I've way too much time on my hands.

Slug

Not to start a flame war on Japanese poetry styles, but on a small note, a haiku is 5-7-5 syllables, not words.

Although, that flame war would be more productive than:

RJs vs. Mainline
Civil vs. Mil
Stick vs. Yoke
Airbus vs. Boeing
Glass vs. Round Dials
PFT vs. not PFT
Greed vs. Sloth
Hub vs. Point to Point
C-5 vs. C-17
Academy vs. ROTC vs. OTS
Cargo vs. Pax
Heavies vs. Fighters
F-16 vs. F-15
Scab vs. Pro-Union
Frac vs. Regional
SEC vs. All other Conferences (that's for you Yahtzee)

OK, OK:

I drank many beers
The poem wars gave me a cheer
So I drank whiskey

Thanks very much Slug and IVAUIR for allowing me to discover my hidden talent, or something like that...............

That is poetic justice...

Try to better Slug
End up looking like a fool
I need a good job

BTW thanks for the correction, here is the reattack. See you in D

swim for months without end
long for the swift passage up
why is Saddam mad

Slug,

We'll keep that debate in the 48th down at Columbus between me and Bobby G (a Penn State grad). I do appreciate the thought. All you poolies have been really good to me.

I'm still trying to get the Big Ten to change their name to "Penn State and Friends".
11 teams in the "Big Ten". And who says the schools are better in the north? ;)

This board is awesome!

To Pegasus, RightBettor, Iviair, Slug, McC, Waitin & the rest of you poolies:

Peace, LUV, and nuts
SWA for you and maybe more
Hope you get there before 04

Ok, my haiku reeks...Remember I was educated in GA. I just wish the best to everyone, especially those furloughed and those who had class dates that never got to start.

Prayers to you and your families.
