The best thing for the profession would be for DL, NW, UA, AA, CO,and US Airways pilots to stand together and take back all flying 70 seats and above. We have allowed too many great paying jobs to be outsourced to the lowest bidder which hurts everyone in the long run. Flying 70-90 passenger jets should not be an entry level position paying $19.00/hr.

Can a brother get an AMEN?!?! I place a big portion of the blame on the pilot mills and PFT and the guys who participated. (make no mistake, direct path programs is PFT on steriods) When you have people paying 100k to get a "direct path" program to a job in 1 to 2 years, that kind of experience is entry level work. Management also knows they can pay those kind of rates and have a plethora of pilots. Get all jets back to mainline and keep the competitive time requirements (say 5000 tt and 2000 turbine PIC) and you will have fixed a great deal of the problems through having a lot less qualified pilots. Less pilots + greater demand = higher price point. It is free market economy at it's best.

Just when I'm about to lose all faith, someone comes along and makes a beautiful post! Dead on right!!!

You're kidding, right? The economy takes an upturn and these guys forget all about RJ's. The majors are recalling, they are putting mainline equiptment on routes that were flown by RJ's until recently, things are looking up...so have you heard any talk from guys at the majors concerning RJ's? NO! They're not interested. No self respecting "real" pilot would be caught dead in an RJ.
