Unfortunately the Regional industry is changing. They don't have the power they used to when the legacies were in BK and oil was cheaper. Throw in new fatigue rules and higher hiring minimums during a bad economy when light aircraft training became cost prohibitive, and the situation gets worse. Stagnation after the introduction of the Age 65 rule and downsizing after legacy BKs created a stoppage of hiring into the Legacies. RJ Capts got married, had kids, and interrupted the normal flow into Legacy hiring. Now RJ Capts don't want to take a pay cut to go to a Legacy initially, but their own Regional Carriers are willing to help with that, and the Legacies, now a lot stronger due to Consolidation, want cheaper contracts. The legacies have the upper hand now, often buying their own RJs and giving feed to the lowest bidder. Take it or leave it.

What's the answer? Save up your money if you can, and apply to one of the big 3 legacies or a LCC that is expanding. Only the top 15% at the Regionals will be able to keep their current pay and lifestyle, but they will work harder to keep it.

Luckily, there will lots of hiring at places with better pay and benefits, along with good retirement programs. Good luck.

Blah blah blah. Jenny Leigh, master of the obvious. Putz!

You and girate-can't-aviate (above) obviously are unhireable, and you are nervous. You should be, it's obvious you'd never pass an interview. But, freeturd, you can always describe in detail why you went all the way to Vietnam for RJ SIC....... You can explain how you couldn't and still can't get along with coworkers here in the States, and had to escape to SE Asia. Too bad you came back.....TCAS on everybody!!! Talk about a putz! You probably will always be an RJ FO, day dreaming about Da Nang while on approach to Dothan....

What's blah blah about that??..It's reality...look at it....wholly owned regionals better think smart, or they will disappear thanks to all the bottom feeders bidding to fly cheaper.....or lobby for some regulations requiring feeder airlines to be owned by the mother carrier...something along the lines of false representation on part of the airlines?...publicise the fact that low-ball airlines are flying around major partner's passengers...better get your ducks in a line..or more "Comairs" will happen...get yourselves stapled to mother's seniority list...

Big problem with your strategies here--one of the biggest bottom feeders of them all IS a wholly owned.

You have touched on one of the biggest roots of our problem, though--misrepresentation by the majors to their passengers. I would call it downright fraud when my major partner prohibits me from saying the name of the company I really work for over the PA.

The government already prohibits fraud and misrepresentation; they are just bought and paid for to not prosecute in this case. If the fraud was somehow removed, then the free market would correct the imbalance, as passengers would gladly pay more for a ticket to ensure a more experienced crew.

I was referring to Jenny Leigh's post. She comes on here and spouts thevsame old cut-n-paste crap, forvyears now. Asvthough we don't know the Regional model sucks. And believe me, most of us are trying to move on to the majors.

On another note, saw Jenny Leigh's alter ego on the Regional board last night, Mercy Fate or whatever her name is. Watched for a few minutes and that screen name disappeared. A minute later GL screen name shows up on the Major board. coincidence? Doubtful.

Ya all are arguing with a kid(was a kid 10 years ago), who is living in his moms basement. The only job he is able to do is shaking a sign out in front of a pizza parlor. He spends all his time mining data on his obsession, DAL. Between the info Uncle Steve gives him and what he mines from the internet boards, he has you hoodwinked into believing he is a pilot.
