It's the same thing at my heavy Reserve unit. Several of the newer guys are restricted to from flying downrange (i.e. farther than Europe) until their TS clearances are done. Not only a pain to them, but an operational pain for a very busy unit. Some have been waiting 2-3 years. I heard the backlog started pre-9/11 following the Los Alamos (Win Ho Lee) episode in the late '90s.
