I'm betting that whoever leaked that e-mail would lose whatever position they hold with the union. Knowing what our internal e-mail threads look like, it obviously came from the Steward's e-mail alias. I think that's probably the reason it was leaked here / via e-mail. Could it be faked? I guess so - but I doubt it. If it were a fake, someone would have said so already.

FYI - I got that message via gmail two or three days ago - so it's been circulating around. It surprises me that it took this long to hit FI.

The moment that the pilot called the SOD, he was requesting help. This is a clear illustration of what is wrong in Gahanna. It showcases for us exactly where the problem lies. Totally unacceptable.

The nice thing is that we can change this.

Griz, as I read it, ML is saying if he doesn't ask for help then stay away. So if he asked for help, as you allude he did do, then help was given.

Also, the email states that he called the SOD for clarification of why he was being called. In the past it has been the company's practice to just call people in to "discuss" without telling them why.

As a final thought, and you'd know better than I, are there any legal ramifications for posting internal emails?

I don't see from what's posted where the pilot called the SOD. I agree with your statement that when a pilot informs representation of something afoot, representation should be there unless the pilot expressly says he doesn't want it.

Was something else posted on the active guy's board I don't know about?

That was fast!!! This info about the G5 guy was posted on union board and BAM was deleted in under 5 minutes. Luthi is a Teamster at heart.
Hey... At least here, the ENTIRE pilot group gets a chance to check it out!

It would be a violation of the confidentiality agreement all active union officers / volunteers sign. That would probably get that person removed from the union as a volunteer.

By the time I got the message 2-3 days ago, it had gone through 3 or 4 hands to get to me. Tracing it back would be a monumental task.

Without seeing more of the message, including headers, it would be almost impossible to determine who released it. The e-mail I got had all that removed. With 17 or so Stewards, plus E Board members, plus paid staff members on that alias, I think the likelihood of determining where the leak came from is nil.

I'm just thankful I'm not on that alias anymore or I'd be accused of doing it. ;-)

...
[As background: Vaughn had been briefed to fly to CMH but was not told why. In turn he called the SOD to get more info. The email begins with the SOD asking the email addressees if anyone had any insight into what was going on.]

Opec -

I quoted that section.

Did Luthi refuse to represent Billy? Ironic and as funny as Billy's plea to the union for help was, was Mark just venting or was there actually some action taken to prevent those union services from taking place?

I promise you that he was 100% represented to the fullest ability of the Stewards council, and the outcome was successful. If you refuse to believe that then ask him yourself.

Un-effing-believable that someone is so cowardly to post this email on an anonymous public message board.

I agree with Hispeed. I have no doubt that Billy received nothing but the best representation. The Stewards at NJASAP are top-notch and I know the guys that did this representation. No worries there.

My concern is with the tone and direction from the top - that the Stewards had to work past in order to do their job.

Of that I have no doubt. My point in my previous post being, it just sounded like Luthi was venting and that was the extent of it.

Hey Griz,

How come you were able to post some of the header over on the NJA board then? I like your winking smile face. Give a bit of insight into your truthfulness about knowing where it came from.

Did DL hand out confidential information again?
