Is pprune.org european based? Seems like there are A LOT of Enland and France posters. I've asked over there, yet haven't received any feedback (maybe the europeans aren't friendly with us Americans these days, I dunno).

I'm pretty sure that it is based in Britain. I don't even bother going there any more.

I second that.

While I’m sure most folks over there are nice chaps face to face and mean you no harm they can and will turn on you once they pick up on your nationality.

They are diametrically opposed to our general political views and most think our President is John Wayne reincarnated they also have a problem with the way we do business.

See, it seems that while they enjoy coming here to take advantage of our cheap flight training and affordable rental rates (as compared to both over there), they look down upon us when we go over there for reasons of CAA or a JAA conversion, they cry cabotage afoul anytime a jet departs from one national to another national regardless of the status of the flight, i.e. privately owned privately operated, etc…

They fight like hell to ensure the we have the hardest of times Landing jobs anywhere in Europe, Africa or the Middle East, areas where the “expats” typically go for food. But somehow the feel that we owe them something once they arrive on our shores and they don’t think nothing of it when on of them lands a job here regardless of how many of our brothers are put of work.

I once enjoyed PPRUNE but for the past year or so I’ve avoided that place like the plague, there attitudes in general have changed for the worse towards us.

The final straw was two arguments I had with several folks over there, one about guns in the cockpits the other about the terrorist bombings in Israel.

I am pro guns in the cockpit and I lost a sister-in-law to a homicide bombing in Israel so I am quite passionate about the whole terrorist issue.

Heed the advice,

Just stay away

Here Here !!! I'm with you all the way on this one. Limi Bast###s. All they seem to do is whine and gossip on the PPrune anyway. :p

"They are diametrically opposed to our general political views and most think our President is John Wayne reincarnated "

Well ... count me in. :D

What most of us here in the states don't realize is that the rest of the world often doesn't see us the way we see ourselves. Rather than benevolent world police force, they see us as bullies and manipulators of the system (U.N.). As with most things ... the truth is somewhere in the middle.

BTW ... it's Limey. :D

LA,

"They are diametrically opposed to our general political views"

-How come you think its not the other way around?

"most think our President is John Wayne reincarnated"

-You gotta admit that when the leader of the world largest nuclear superpower boasts that his favourite actor is Chuck Norris, eyrbrows are being raised a tad in the remainder of the world

"they also have a problem with the way we do business."

-Are you refering to Enron, WorldCom? Martha Stewart perhaps? I wouldn't be bragging to much these days!

"they cry cabotage afoul anytime a jet departs from one national to another national regardless of the status of the flight, i.e. privately owned privately operated, etc…"

-It is actually very simple. Europeans will not accept US carriers to operate revenue flights between and within two seperate nations, just as Americans would have a hard time with Lufthansa flying up and down the Eastcoast. Lots of Americans still consider Europe one big country with everything up for grabs.

"They fight like hell to ensure the we have the hardest of times Landing jobs anywhere in Europe"

-Just like the US, where the accesability of a green card is as close to imposible as it gets.

"But somehow the feel that we owe them something once they arrive on our shores"

-Actually they feel gratefull to the Yanks for arriving on their shores June 6, 1944!

"Just stay away"

-Actually, I welcome any American over here, being a halfbred myself, but spare me the moaning and whining. This "acrossthe pondbashing" is getting tiresome and infantile.

Thought the discussion was about the Brits. Must be different history tought in European schools if you think the Yanks landed in England June 6, 1944.

Any "across the pond bashing" you see hasn't happened with regularity on this board. Maybe it's the Pprune bbs that includes all the pissing and moaning. I personally quit browsing PPrune because it mostly involved companies that I had no knowledge of, and spoke to issues that didn't concern me. I could care less whether or not a european carrier is hiring, or not, for example. My avoidance had nothing to do with politics. Now that I''m aware of an good debate, maybe I'll go there and put in my two cents worth.

IMO, The US of A should give Europe, and the world what it wants. We should leave them alone, and we should lock down our boarders to anyone. Period. Kick out all the illegal immigrants and green carders, IE, anyone who came here to take advantage of our freedoms and then go home. I want for it to be as hard for a non citizen to get a job here, as it is for an American to get a job in Australia for example. We should also drop out of the UN and stop our monetary support of that socialist institution. I wouldn't mind paying twice as much for a gallon of petrol just to be free of the dependance on the middle east, but that's just me.
The US of A outpaced the world in the past century, a century when we were basically self sufficient. I am one Texan/American who wouldn't mind letting the rest of the world take care of themselves. Also, I imagine that the majority of my fellow countrymen would also just as soon allow the rest of the world to fight their own fights. For some reason, the political leaders of both the US of A, and most of the rest of the world seem to think that the future lies in a one world government. The EU and UN for example.

How quickly they forget.

I am no student of history, but I seem to remember that we, the citizens of the US of A, rebuilt Europe and Japan, after the last world war (The Marshall plan.) A war that we didn't start for those of you who skipped that day of world history. It is a fact that the American people are the most generous people in the world. When their is a famine or disaster anywhere in the world, we send aid. And the thanks that we get is that the world takes it for granted and demands more.
