I am a CFI who has a student that just bought a PA28-201T, otherwise known as a Turbo Dakata. The engine is an TSIO-360-BR and is referred to as a "TurboSupercharged" engine by Continental. The unusual thing about the engine, specifically, the turbo, is that the waste gate is fixed and can only be adjusted by a screw on the ground. From those I've already talked to, not a lot of these kinds of engines were made. But, the engine will produce 41" of man. pressure from sea level up to 12,000. Any more than 41" and the manifold becomes overboosted. So it seems to me that this is a "no brainer" turbo. Just keep it 41" or below and watch the TIT, EGT and CHT.

The reason I'm posting this message is to find out if anyone else has had experience with this type of engine and what should I tell my student about proper care, etc.

Any help is much appreicated.

Thanks,
Flyer7SA
