Rumor has it that Gateways may be reduced in number with a new contract. Could this possibly be true? What are the current gateways and what are the proposed ones? Do you have to live within a certain distance or just be there at show time?

You could search for most of this info here on flightinfo, as it's been covered before.

As for living in a gateway, you don't have to. You simply have to be within 100 miles or 3 hours, whichever is less, at 0001 local on your first day of duty.

Thanks! I can't seem to find much about the rumored reduction in number of gateways. I guess its just bad info.

The TA that got shot down did not reduce the number of gateways. In fact, it increased them; HOWEVER (and make that a BIG however), it didn't apply to new hires. New hires were required to report to one of only five bases (EWR, MCO, CMH, DAL, LAX). You would either live there, or commute on your own dime. This was one of the many reasons it got shot down by an 82% margin.

What will appear on the next go around is anybody's guess.

In order for the NJ pilots' union to show themselves as good partners working towards the continued success of NetJets, the pilots will probably recommend that all gateways be closed in order to cut costs, raise profits, and make more money available for pilot salaries and benefits. The domicile will probably continue to be CMH, with 2000 pilots beginning and ending their duty tours in CMH.

Yeah, and I have a big red bridge for sale.

Nutjets wants their RCA's as they believe it will make them more efficient.(The only way to become more efficient is to fire the entire scheduling department. You have never seen such unqualified and incapable people).
The union will not reduce the gateways as prior negotiations proved a further expansion to cost little or nothing at all. Its unlikely the gateways will expand to that of NJI but we must be realistic because their gateway system is completely inefficient.

Its a quality of life issue and one which the union will not give up.

Without a DOUBT, the Schedulers are going to put Nutjets out of business. Not only this, but if you ask a Nutjet pilot what he hates the most about this place, other than the pay, it is DEFINITELY our WORTHLESS SCHEDULERS !!! They are the very worst of the worst !!!
