In Usa Today:

Mesa circling over Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh's days as a hub may not be numbered after all. US Airways plans to scale back flights there and eliminate Pittsburgh's designation as a US Airways hub. But, for regional carrier Mesa, the Steel City "is an opportunity we are taking a very close look at," the airline's CEO Jonathan Ornstein told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We believe Pittsburgh could operate profitably in a hub structure with the right cost model." The Arizona-based carrier operates to 160 cities and is profitable, in part as an affiliate for several larger airlines, including US Airways Express. The paper speculates that Mesa may be one of the few willing to take a chance on the medium-sized market. Mesa's labor costs are lower than US Airways, and it is well capitalized. With lots of passenger amenities and a large capacity, Pittsburgh consistently ranks as a favorite for among business travelers. Posted at 8 a.m. ET

-what are they saying?..usairways 3rd year 757 pay should be in the $30 per hour range?? Of course the labor costs are lower!!!! Don't usairways gate agents and rampers work a lot of mesa's flights??

Bra,

In a way Usairways Group does work the Mesa flights in PIT. PSA runs the ramp and gates there.

Do a web search for "Project Roam." They want to be a non-union 737 operator, claim to have already spoken with two airlines, and one of the head honchos is ex-HP.

Sounds like OJ's wet dream.
