anyone hear about the Learjet 60 that had an engine incident, possibly a failure?

That sounds like the incident I heard about. I believe it happened somewhere in Florida. If you search there was thread on this a couple weeks back. I want to say one of the folks on here had an engine at the shop that they borrowed to ferry the aircraft. I think I recall something about it slinging a fan blade.
 
That would be me. They're using our engine to ferry the airplane back to DAL. But I misspoke; It happened in Palm Springs. I thought my boss said Palm Beach.
 
Pratt put out a SIL last week.

It basically said there was a loud noice preceeding a vibration and subsequent securing of the engine by the crew. The plane was climbing through 350.

Inspection upon landing showed damage to the inlet, fan section and cowl.

Pratt and BAS are currently conducting an investigation.
 
That's gotta be rare, the PW305 has always been touted as being farily reliable, even to todays standards...
