I'm curious what the norm is from pilots in the tanker community on how long your seasoning period was.

Is this more a Unit specific thing (for example: at XYZ, we require you to have 500 hrs. in the first 6 months) or something more formal sent down from the NGB determining the length of training before turning into a traditional guardsmen status?

For Tanker pilots in the guard you get 45 days of active duty for seasoning, otherwise known as "seasoning days". Other than those days, most new copilots "guard bum" to get experience(and money) and upgrade quicker.
