This may seem like an odd question but would it be out of line to jumpseat with a carry on pet, in the cabin only of course. Or should I only do standby tickets?
I would especially be interested to hear from Delta, Southwest, and AirTran pilots on the issue. thanks!

As an AirTran Capt, I'd welcome you and your pet. In ATL, there is a slight chance the agents would nail you with a fee. I think most of the outstations would waive it.

Not sure if you ride on us often, but we don't have a ton of room under the seats. Bring the shortest carrier that you can get away with.

I've seen jumpseaters show up at Conti....nited with guitars, golf clubs, etc., so as long as as your pet carrier meets the company's requirements, you should be fine. Just be sure to wear the appropriate jumpseat attire. :D

AirTran has a long history of accomodating 'comfort animals'. The monkey, the blanket and the red eye flight is one of the better examples. Maybe not better, but certainly funnier.
