Yup, nothing more than pilot error and an oversite in the emergency transponder codes. Remember kids: 7500=Hijack; 7600= Lost Comm!
 
I guess those codes arent so discreet anymore (not that they ever were) now that the media felt compelled to report them.

Considering they are published in just about every flight training book, they never were that top secret.
 
Heard the plane was towed away and impounded and the pilots went away in cuffs

Towed away? Figured it would have been up on blocks if it was left unwatched for more than 30 minutes:D
