This showed up in my e-mail as a "pick of the week" from PlaneJobs.com.

B-737 Captain-First Officer
Description:
We are recruiting for 2 B737-200 crews to be
based in BOS and IAD areas. Sucessful candidates
must reside in the area or provide own accomodations
while in the crew base. The flying is with high profile
VIP clients and may require trips of up to 2 weeks at
a time, however this will be rare. We are planning to
start a class May 9, 2005.

Requirements:
Current B737 pilots will be given preferred status.

Company Benefits:
Full Time, Captains start at $ 64,800 and First
Officers start at $ 39,000 Annually

I saw that ad. Pretty disgusting was my first thought. Then I realized that's more than Aloha 737 pilots make as first officers year 1. And, more than UPS pilots make year 1. And, where Alaska first year pilots might end up. So then I was not only disgusted with the ad but realized my disgust with the entire airline industry.

Is it showing?

How much do you think the employer paid PlaneJobs for "pick of the week" status? I'm in the wrong side of the business!

Yeah, but that is only the 1st year, pay goes up dramatically the 2nd year and on . The Capt. pay is horrendous.

That would be...

"Sky King" Air wages.

So true though.. and don't forget... SWA starts at mid 30k as an FO... 2nd yr almost doubles though.... but... I'm sticking to corp.

I just think it's sad that you can make more as a captain of a small Citation than as a captain of a 737.

The worst is (well maybe not the worst) it's a crappy low paying job and you have to pay to even apply for it! Of course, it's probably advertised for free someplace and PlaneJobs just puts it up as thier listing.

I know **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** well there is alot of people that would take this job.
