For those of you who have Wi-Fi on the planes

So I am wondering. For those of you who have Wi-Fi on the planes, does your airline give you a passkey to access it for free? Do you use it to get updated weather radar etc? Any other useful purposes?
Now for part two of the question, does your Netflix streaming account work from way up there?!
