Looks like good results for the 4th quarter. Here is the statement that I like:

"Capital spending for fiscal 2005 is forecast to be approximately $1.6 billion. The expected year-over-year increase will fund additional aircraft capacity for FedEx Express, which is driven by growth in FedEx International Priority."

How many airframes can we get for 1.6B? New routes to China? Let the hiring begin!

FedEx Quarterly Earnings Jump 47 Percent
Wednesday June 23, 8:15 am ET

MIAMI (Reuters) - FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX - News), the world's No. 1 air-express shipper, on Wednesday said quarterly earnings jumped 47 percent on healthy demand throughout its businesses and global markets.
For the fiscal fourth quarter ended May 31, the Memphis, Tennessee, transport group said profit rose to $412 million, or $1.36 a share, from $280 million, or 92 cents a share, a year earlier.

Excluding business realignment costs and the benefit of a tax rate change, the company said it earned $1.33 per share.

Analysts' average profit forecast for FedEx, whose businesses include U.S. ground deliveries and trucking, was $1.33 a share excluding the unusual items, with estimates ranging from $1.32 to $1.33, according to the Reuters Estimates, .

The profit was in line with guidance from FedEx, which raised its earnings forecast on June 10.

Fourth-quarter revenue, which benefited from the acquisition of the Kinko's chain of business centers, totaled $7.04 billion, up 21 percent from $5.83 billion a year earlier. Analysts had projected just under $6.8 billion, according to Reuters Estimates. "

47% over last quarter? They probably won't be able to give the pilots a raise with those measley numbers.

Is there a difference between "additional aircraft capacity" and additional aircraft

Additional aircraft are cheap. Additional crewmembers are very expensive!

One word...RETROACTIVITY!
