Does anyone know if Stratus works in the CRJ?

Don't buy Stratus, it's a POS. Bought one for my airplane and it broke within a month. Not to mention it takes a while for the thing to fully boot up, sometimes as long as 45 min. Not to mention it overheats quickly.

geez

Why in g-d's name would you pay $800 for that to use in the RJ!? I admit the radar on-board isn't great and has problems all the time, but legs on the RJ aren't that long, just check your phone before you power down for the flight! I'm guessing you have an iPhone or other smart phone (money is on the iPhone though).. check the weather, get an idea of it's track, then use on-board. Plus you have ATC and your eyeballs. Also, use your FO. If you're willing to pay $800 for that, he's probably smarter than you.

I am a 1/2 partner in a 414 and the other owner just bought a Stratus and I thought it might be nifty to bring to work.

I havent been on FI for quite a while, but it looks like the same caliber of doo-shes still hang out lobbing flame at anyone with anything threatening their smallness in the universe.

I'm sure the owner of said nifty magic box would appreciate you dragging it around the country on a 4 day?

I'm not surprised to see the responses here. Very little thought of what is going on outside an RJ cockpit. It would work in most areas. ADS-B is scheduled to be nation wide by 2013 via NextGen ATC. A lot of options with this product available with Foreflight. Not sure about the legalities of using it 121.

Couldn't agree more, with the majority of that time spent looking at glass & punching buttons instead of heads up looking out the window, especially in the dep/arr phase.
