See the Great Wall: Delta is seeking customer support for service between the US and China. A new link from the Delta.com website shows customers how they can help Delta's bid to provide the service. (10/13)

Bad News Bears: Analysts expect Southwest to post a modest profit of $126 million for the 3Q 2004. Delta is expected to lose $448 million in the quarter. American is expected to lose $224 million despite having the lowest costs of the major network airlines. (10/13)

Sportin’ a star? Rep John Mica, chairman of the House Transportation aviation subcommittee, and Ranking Member Rep Peter DeFazio, proposed a bill designed to improve pilots' access to the FFDO program, improve communication between FFDOs and the TSA and to let FFDOs carry a badge. (10/13)

Zero in on this one: Beginning 1 Nov, the company will change its KPI (Key Performance Indicator) from departure + 5 minutes to departure + 0 minutes. In other words, they will log a late departure if the flight doesn’t block out early or at the very latest, ON TIME. (10/13)

Pilot Requirements: You should have all seen the sheet on requirements we received from Crew Resources. The growth you see is due to increased utilization of aircraft. The company plans to retire 4 737-200s and 4 737-300s between now and May. Also, we don’t know the impact of a possible contractual change in the cap. (10/13)

Canadian Strike: Approx 125,000 civil servants in Canada are on strike 12 Oct. The strike is being observed only sporadically now but is expected to be in full force soon. Striking workers include support staff for Canadian customs agents at border crossings, ports and airports. Visitors to Canada should anticipate long delays. (10/12)

Getting to the terminal: The express bus from the new lot to Terminal 1 announced earlier has been canceled. All buses will make the complete circuit. You will be able to get to the old lot for awhile to pick up your car if you park there on or before 22 Oct. New lot opens 23 Oct. There will be sidewalks if you want to walk. (10/12)

Get your kids out of the house: Delta Reservations is hiring. (10/12)

Big Bang! The 31 Jan schedule will be loaded next weekend. Project Morpheus eliminates all 12 connecting banks in ATL & restructures 51% of the network into a continuous operation. ATL will grow to 1,051 daily flights from 970 with service every 1 to 1.5 hours to 37 "pillar" markets & add 95 flights to 63 existing cities. (10/12)

Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen: For those of you who would like to participate in the Delta Christmas Boutique or the Annual Festival of Trees, see these websites: http://dalweb.delta.com/slcres/form...ivalOfTrees.htm

http://dalweb.delta.com/slcres/slac/Boutique.htm (10/12)

Black Gold, Texas Tea: U.S. airline losses could hit $6.5 billion if crude oil prices stay at the current level of about $52 per barrel for the near future, according to Merrill Lynch. Every $1 change in the price of oil equates to about a $450 million pretax swing to the bottom line. (10/11)

ASA on the way: ASA plans to launch service 31 Jan to 8 new points from its newly named SLC hub – LAX, SFO, SMF, SJC, LAS, RNO, PDX, & SEA. This new service, along with other changes, will increase the number of daily Delta and Delta Connection nonstops out of SLC to 384 from 330. (10/11)

No way survey: ALPA is asking its members not to participate in a Delta pilot survey commissioned by Citibank, a Delta bondholder. ALPA says the sample is questionable, and the results will be "used to draw generalizations about the Delta pilots' willingness to grant concessions. (10/11)

Calm heads, cool lips: Please don’t use the ramp frequency or any other for that matter to comment on anything
to do with pay or benefits. Our fellow employees deserve the same kind of respect we are demanding from them on your behalf. It seems like using ALPA sunscreens around the system right now isn’t working either. (10/11)

Mad Dog loose in Zion: New Advanced Entitlement out. 183 CAs, 313 FOs total. SLC gets 8 767 CAs, 4 73N CAs, 26 M88 CAs, and 26 M88 FOs. ATL gets 66 widebody CAs. Expecting next DFW displacement bid in December. All MD-90 time will be in SLC and some MD-88 time also. (10/8)
