We were hoping for a great improvement in ground operations in ATL since Delta took over on June 1, but sorry to say, since then things have gone rapidly downhill! Could not even turn my flight today in 1 hour 45 minutes, and lost a full cart of bags to boot!

I guess ASA bag performance numbers will rapidly improve now though, since ASA is not responsible for losing them in ATL anymore.

Thanks management for another brilliant decision. Just when things were starting to go the right way too!
 
Am afraid not, hopefully with some additional staffing from mainline things may improve. Maybe just teething troubles, but it certainly needs some work. How is it that DAL can do so much better turning an aircraft with ten times the bags and four times the passengers, yet things always run so poorly on the C & D concourses. Any ideas?

It be the curse of Eastern Airlines on C and D!!!!

It is a tough operation to run well and I'm not sure it works better with ASA running the aircraft movements and Delta running the gates. There is another layer of communication between managers and more opportunities for confusion. Now there is a lot more, "go to spot 47, no now D33 Bottom, no you are a spare, go to Delta North (but we have passengers on board and our arrival time is in 3 minutes), OK then, go back to 47." In the mean while we have clogged up the ramp with a big hole in the middle of it, nearly got hit by 13 kamikaze tug drivers (is that black box on the tug a mini meth lab?) delayed 3 Delta flights, 2 AirTran flights and am sure contributed to hair loss and cortizol related weight gain for the ramp controllers.

The Delta staff is much more professional and polite, but equally overwhelmed with the reality of operating four flights from the same gate, simultaneously, with changes. It is not an easy operation to run, but in the month or two before the transfer ASA finally had it working right. I think the morale boost of getting on with mainline helped a lot also.

The next big change will be the transfer to jetways and that should calm things down a lot since it will be a more normal operation with fewer airplanes per gate.
 
....in regards to the weight gain....

It's not their fault....it's the stress! (not the food, nor the amount)
