Can you get your 1st class medical renewed if you walk in using a walking shoe or crutches? Since you can't fly, can the doctor still issue your medical?
 
Dont see why not. Its not a chronic injury and will heal in a given amount of time. You'll self ground until you can fly.

This makes too much sense so I'd call AOPA medical before showing up and trying to get a medical and have it rejected. Nothing more fun than dealing with the good FAA medical folks in OK City.
