New word coming from Comair is that the airline may be smaller than orginally projected and much sooner to boot.
Information leaking from Comair is that they will be down to flying 9000 hours by February. That's 10,000 hours less than they are flying right now and they will drop to 6000 hours by July. Comair was suppose to be shrinking to 44 aircraft by the end of 2012. Their 70/90 fleet has 28 planes and is currently flying 8000 hours. There is no way that 6000 hours could support those aircraft, 16 CRJs and 500 pilots. Looks like the 50s are on there way out the door as well as 200 more pilots than anticipated.
JB has said pubically that Comair was 6 months ahead of schedule to reaching their targeted goal of aircraft. What he didn't say was the target was now much smaller.
Good luck to all Comair pilots and Flight Attendents.

Comair has only 27 700's and 900's. Not 28.
14 700's
13 900's.

Also it was announced at the end of last month that EXTRA flying was secured for the 700/900 fleet and transfer training was slowed down accordingly. (Was posted on the union MEC page).

Draw your own conclusions.

Either way, I don't believe that anyone remaining at Comair is under ANY illusion ( or delusion ) that things will suddenly improve here by Delta saying, haha. "April Fools"!

So I am curious as to the reason for your post.

Because of the announcement of "Extra Flying" and the presumed slowing of transfer training, that's why.
Our Union people found out Friday that another captain displacement is now slated for November contrary to what was believe just 2 weeks ago.
The extra flying is for 3 months ... September, October and November.
And no. No April's Fools.
Everyone at Comair knows what's coming (or thought they did) but this just changes the pace of what is to come and how many may be left.

You ever wonder if maybe its the 700-900's that are going to go away? 6000 hours is about the number appropriate for the 17 CRJ 200s that are slated to be left.

On the other hand if the source of the rumor was SB you can take it to the bank. /sarcasm filter off

I remember back in 2000 when many were cheering the fact that Delta had acquired Comair. In fact that was the day that Comair caught terminal cancer.

Delta Air Lines has consistently and deliberately destroyed Comair step by step from the day after they bought it. They just enjoy doing in slowly so that it will be more painful to those that remain.
