below is the post from the air wisconsin employment page. They are hiring CL-65 ground instructors. no where does it say that that you need a type rating to teach ground.

Job Summary:
There is an immediate opening for a Ground Instructor - CL-65 in the Flight Department in DEN. This position reports directly to the Lead Ground Instructor.

Responsibilities:
Communicates frequently with the Manager of Fleet Standardization, Chief Pilot, Fleet Managers, Flight Instructors, and line pilots to keep abreast of current issues on the line and items that should be taught.
Prepares lesson plans, classroom presentations, tests, and other course materials using Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Teaches ground schools for pilots and other personnel as necessary.
Ensures that all courses comply with Air Wisconsin and FAA standards.
Ensures that all required training and/or checks are properly documented.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work with and manage people.
High written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of the learning process, and ability to design effective courses and lessons.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office (Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word).
Ability to travel frequently between Air Wisconsin's bases.
General experience with personal computers including e-mail systems.

I can do all they have here, but I cannot fly a CRJ. could i realisticly get the job???

The last instructor was not typed either until about six month after he was teaching the class.

This yet another cost saving plan that Mgt. has come
up with, rather than take line pilots like our contract
used to state. This started with the 328 and continued
into the CRJ (CL-65), but when Mgt. decided to save
even more money, and do this with the 146.

The union screamed fool play. but it was to late.
Our own union screwed themselves by allowing this
hiring of off the street instructors.

I'm not against this by any means if it allows our
company to save money and there qualified,
I'm just against the fact that our union leaders
let this go on until it affected the BAE-146 instructor
group...

Now figure out which group of pilots is overwhelmingly
ruled by our union, 146 or CL-65.

This is about to change, thank goodness.

And for Air Wisconsin's policy not to hire back pilots that
have been employed here before... Consider this one out
the window, Air Wisconsin has recently done so and has
set a presidence in doing so.

So those that are furloughed or looking for work and have
been previously employed at AWAC can contact me via
private message. I'll get back with you as soon as I can.

Well I will say this in all honesty, AWAC was the most outstanding place I have ever had the pleasure of working. Yeah the whole TA $hit sure $ucked but the people you work with make all the difference in the world. I've had my differences with folks on the property over this issue and for all intensive purposes it settled itself. I will truely miss working there.

When are you leaving us WD? Hate to see you go, but then again, you are senior to me:) Enjoy the bus and hope to see you around the friendly skies.

Hey RR. Today was my last day so you moved up another number.

I too hope to see and hear you all out there.

Take care and fly safe

Hey Jimbo, Thanks

America West!! I'm not going to stop posting just because I change carriers. I am thinking however that I may need to change my screen name.

I ran across the same situation years ago. To save money the commuter that I worked for hired a kid straight out of school 300 hr tt, ran him through one ground school on the airplane and then said go teach!! He had never even seen the inside of the sim!

Needless to say we were pretty much self taught until we got to the sim. It was so bad that the students were correcting the instructor on system knowledge 10 to 20 times a day.

They finally had enough people complaining that they put this guy on line as an fo for 6 months so he could figure out what was going on.

Spend a doller to save a dime!!! Ya gotta love this industry.

WD,
Congrads, I guess I meant to say your posts as a awac pilot i..e.
with the insight of awac and ual will be missed. At least you won't have to deal with ual's sh&$ anymore.
