He gunfyther, you got to think about liberalism again. It means being free. So if you support the war to free the Iraqi people, you are a liberalist in this case. A conservatist would have left things the way they are, with SH in power.

Can't let this one slip by. Sorry.

"Au, contraire" as our former allies might say.

Liberalism does not, in its current meaning, equate with being free. It means a loose interpretation of established legal and cultural norms, and a desire to change those standards due to feelings. Things like I feel a woman has a right to an abortion or I feel that two men or two women have a right to become a married couple.

If you support the Iraqi people in their quest to be free, then you are a liberationist. A conservative, if you look around, is unwilling to appease a brutal dictator.

As Bill Murray once said: "that's the fact, Jack!"

standards....

Weather or not the reporter is liberal or conservative or democratic or republican in nature, they are not excusable in any way from being factual and 150% OBJECTIVE! objectivity is absolutely lacking from anything Geraldo has ever done. he is NOT a reporter..he is a HYPE MAN...

objectivity does not mean saying what you think is gruesome or not. those opinions are left up to the viewer and reader to decide on their own. you do not tell them what to think. you give them fact. viewers create their opionion. if the news nowdays would actually pay attention to news. the usa population might actually have rational thought.

A reporter and journalist to the letter must remain objective and factual. you are not alloowed to derive your own answers. you are not allowed to generalize anything you find. you report what IS and nothing else. what IS is not what you think. its what you KNOW. and geraldo has done neither. He is an open wound to the profession of journalism. and the community of professional journalists know it. only reason he is on TV is the personna that he has. it can get people to watch him. as noone is interested in the news anymore just the entertainment. he can entertain. aparently he can't do anything else but that.

The standards and goals of todays reporters are completely lacking and unobserved. Too bad theres not a Journalism federal inspector (FAA rampie) to hand out fines for not having your notes (jepps) correct and accurate.

Arnett is a respected reporter...too bad he let it get to him and became this way. stress will do it.

Geraldo Rivera is an entertainer masquerading as a reporter. he fails at that, fails at journalism.

remember folks, a true journalist and good reporter gives you fact. tells you whats happening. and thats it. you make the decision on what to believe. you make the call.

Arnett's Remarks, from Reuters

On a state-controlled Iraqi TV interview, broadcast Sunday by Iraq's satellite television station and monitored by The Associated Press in Egypt, Arnett said his Iraqi friends tell him there is a growing sense of nationalism and resistance to what the United States and Britain are doing.

He said the United States is reappraising the battlefield and delaying the war, maybe for a week, "and rewriting the war plan. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan."

"Clearly, the American war plans misjudged the determination of the Iraqi forces," Arnett said.

Arnett said it is clear that within the United States there is growing opposition to the war and a growing challenge to President Bush about the war's conduct.

"Our reports about civilian casualties here, about the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States," he said. "It helps those who oppose the war when you challenge the policy to develop their arguments."

Military officials were short on details about reasons for Rivera's dismissal, but according to US news reports, Rivera was told to leave Iraq after an on-air appearance during which he drew a map in the sand revealing information about US troop locations.

What a complete dumbsh*t!!

There is one dictator in Iraq and if we see closely we'll find one very close to us.
"No freedom of speech"

I was watching that on TV while eating dinner...I wish I would have paid more attention, I would have liked to have seen just what it was he drew/said.

dàmn BBQ ribs.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news (for some), but Heraldo was alive and well in Iraq with the 101st about 5 minutes ago.

Free speach??

Not sure if you meant what I thought, Ipilot, but free speach does NOT include offering real time intelligence to the enemy. People have been summarily executed for doing less in time of war than Geraldo did. The exact positions of troop units are operational secrets; the more the enemy knows of your position, the easier it is to kill you.

Not a freedom of speach issue. And if you really believe Bush to be a dictator, go to Iraq and see how you enjoy living under real tyranny.
