[FONT=Century Gothic, sans-serif]St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is thrilled to announce new, scheduled air service by low-cost carrier Allegiant Air, LLC. The Las Vegas-based airline will start the new, nonstop service with low-fare flights to 12 of America’s favorite small cities. Inaugurating service Nov. 16, the carrier will celebrate the new flights with fares as low as $59* each way. [/FONT]

[FONT=Century Gothic, sans-serif]As the new “hometown connection” for the St. Petersburg/Clearwater community, the carrier today announced nonstop service to and from Allentown, Penn.; Rockford, Ill.; Peoria, Ill.; and Lansing, Mich. The carrier will make four more market announcements Sept. 14 and four additional announcements by the end of Sept. Allegiant currently serves 42 U.S. markets and recently announced an additional five new markets. Allegiant will use 130-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the routes.[/FONT]

Are you flying SouthEast's old airplanes too? Your managment should do some research of all the failed carriers that called PIE home. Good luck. TPA is one bridge away.

I don't know who you fly for Hutchman, but our management seems to do a good job keeping us profitable... Can you say the same about your management?

SFB is just a few miles from MCO, but we seem to do very well there...

True, PIE is littered with airlines that have failed in the past. Sun Jet Int'l/Southeast and others. It's not hard to see that Allegiant seems to be on to something with the secondary and even terciary markets. Some of the cities even make me scratch my head (Kinston, NC ?). But to have the longevity that the company has had during a very difficult period is something to at least recognize and acknowledge. Give them the benefit of the doubt and enjoy watching the growth of what I hope will be a very successful carrier.
